API3 is a decentralized oracle solution built on the Ethereum blockchain, designed to bridge the gap between traditional web APIs and blockchain-based smart contracts. Unlike third-party oracle networks that rely on intermediaries, API3 leverages first-party oracles operated directly by API providers, eliminating unnecessary layers of trust and reducing attack surfaces. This approach targets developers, DeFi protocols, and enterprises seeking reliable, tamper-proof data feeds for applications ranging from lending platforms to insurance products. By enabling direct integration of real-world data into smart contracts, API3 addresses a critical infrastructure need in the blockchain ecosystem, where accurate and timely data is essential for executing trustless agreements. At the core of API3’s architecture is Airnode, a lightweight, serverless oracle node that allows API providers to deploy their own oracles without requiring blockchain expertise. Airnodes are designed to be permissionless and self-sustaining, with providers staking API3 tokens to signal commitment and earn rewards. The network employs a decentralized governance model to manage data feed quality, dispute resolution,…
