CoW Protocol, formerly known as Gnosis Protocol v2, is a decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator and a meta-DEX built on Ethereum and other blockchains compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It addresses critical inefficiencies in decentralized trading, such as the exploitation of maximum extractable value (MEV), high slippage, and suboptimal transaction execution. Unlike traditional DEXs like Uniswap or SushiSwap, CoW Protocol employs a unique batch auction mechanism where orders are grouped and executed collectively, ensuring uniform settlement prices for all participants.
