r/CryptoCurrency Moons (MOON) is a cryptocurrency created specifically for the r/CryptoCurrency subreddit community on Reddit. It was launched in May 2020 as a way to reward users for their contributions to the community, such as posting quality content and engaging in discussions. MOON is an ERC-20 token built on the Ethereum blockchain, leveraging its security and smart contract capabilities. The token is distributed monthly to active community members based on their karma, which is earned through upvotes on their posts and comments. The primary use case of MOON is governance, allowing holders to vote on community decisions and proposals. Additionally, MOON can be used for tipping other users and for purchasing special memberships on the subreddit. The tokenomics of MOON are designed to be deflationary, with a fixed supply and no additional minting. The governance model is community-driven, with decisions made through voting by MOON holders. The project does not have a formal team or foundation, as it is entirely community-driven. Key milestones include the initial launch in 2020 and subsequent updates to the distribution mechanism to ensure fairness and transparency.
